How it works?
The ultraviolet (UV) treatment process is an extremely quick physical process. Ultraviolet light mutates and/or degrades DNA. When the DNA is damaged, the organism becomes unable to function because its “instructions” are garbled or missing. An organism that has no instructions cannot function and reproduce, and cannot cause infection. It is rendered harmless and eventually dies.
In the UV disinfection process, water is purified as it runs through a stainless steel chamber (also called a “reactor”) that contains a special UV- producing lamp. As the water flows past the lamp, the microbe in the water receive a lethal dose of UV.
HQUA UV Water Purifier is a water treatment device that needs to be assembled, but it’s easy to finish. Each part of it have its own function, we will introduce them hereby:

UV Reactor Chamber
The UV chamber is made by 304 stainless steel, which was widely used in food industry, medical, considered to be stable and durable.
Length-21 inch, diameter-3.5 inch, inlet/outlet 3/4” DN20 1.05 inch/ 26.67mm , no requirement of the water flow direction.
Electronic ballast (HQUA-TWS-5595EB) connect the UV lamp and the power (120V/60Hz), work as a controller in the system with 3.2 ft. (100cm) power cord and 3ft. (90cm) lamp cord.
Green light on ‘work’ means everything alright, red light blinks on ‘fault’ and the controller beeps when the system is failed.
UV lamp & Quartz sleeve
Quartz sleeve (HQUA-TWS-12Q) not only provide an interspace for the UV lamp, but also ensure high transmittance (90%) for the UV light.
UV lamp (HQUA-TWS-12L, GPH436T5L/HO standard 4-pin) provide enough UV light to destroy the DHA of the microbe and bacteria.
Go Green and Satey
Green and safe sterilization treatment. Lack of chemicals means no harmful chemical byproducts are going back into the nature. And it avoid the potential threat residual chlorine, the taste of your water is not affected in any way as well.
HQUA water sterilizer ensure a 99.99% reducing of bacteria and microbe in the water. The corresponding UV exposure is 30 mJ/cm². A slower flow rate, a higher wattage device or two sterilizer might be effective to handle a strong bacteria and microbe problem.
Installation and Maintenance
Easy installation and maintenance. No need for chemical supplement, the equipment is intended to be installed in the pipe system permanently. the lamp needs to be replaced annually and the quartz sleeve should be cleaned every 6-12 months, replace every 2 years.

Water quality is extremely important for the optimum performance of your UV system. The following levels are recommended :
- Iron < 0.3 ppm (0.3 mg/L)
- Hardness< 7 gpg (120 mg/L)
- Turbidity < 1 NTU
- Manganese < 0.05 ppm (0.05 mg/L)
- Tannins < 0.1 ppm (0.1 mg/L)
- UV Transmittance> 75%
Hot Water Warning
The water in the chamber of this equipment can be very hot (Approx 140F) during an extended 4 hours of no water flowing. It’s recommended to open the faucet until the hot water has been purged from the chamber. Keep human body away from the faucet during this time. Or install a 5 gallons water tank after the UV unit to reduce the temporary hot water.Maintenance
- UV lamp: Replace the UV lamp annually (or biennially if seasonal home use) to ensure maximum disinfection.
- Quartz Sleeve: Clean the quartz sleeve every 6-12 months, replace every 24 months. The coating on the quartz sleeve will slowly form due to the minerals in the water. This coating must be removed because it reduces the amount of UV light reaching the water, thereby reducing disinfection performance. If the sleeve can not be cleaned, it must be replaced.
